It was immediately after World War II in 1946 that Tony and Catalina Gonzales decided to open a restaurant on the present site. Tony had just returned from military service and Catalina, who had contented herself with staying at home while Tony was away, persuaded him to allow her to open a Mexican restaurant right in his parents' home.
Open at first only on weekends, the modest establishment could seat just 26 persons. Catalina did the cooking and Tony helped to serve...

My all-time favorite restaurant. My family has been coming here for 50+ years and we won't be stopping anytime soon. The environment, portion size, authentic taste and quality... Tony's is hard to beat. PS - I dare you to try their Spicy Margarita!

Large portions, awesome margaritas and a beautiful garden... but really this review is about the salsa. I could subsist on this salsa with a perma smile on my face - it's sooooooo delicious!!!
Best Mexican food and drink location in all of our San Diego area. My parents started taking me there during the Del Mar Horse show dating back like 1948 or so. I am celebrating another b day tomorrow and hope friends take be there again. THANK YOU TONY J'S!!!!!
We went there last night after a day at the beach. I love Mexican food and eat it often enough to be picky about it. I was really pleased. The food was really fantastic. Highly recommended!!
